It takes more than just a great recipe to make a successful food product.
Hello!
My name is Sylvia Chong
and I am a Quality Assurance Person
providing consulting services in Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance to Canadian Small-Scale Food Processors.
The most important lesson I learned from my 25+ year career as a Food Scientist in agricultural manufacturing industries is that a validated food safety plan is an absolute necessity for consistently delivering safe, best quality food products. It can open doors to new and more distant markets. It can help you keep your operation and costs under control. It keeps your business alive, and thriving.
Yes, you can write your own Food Safety Plan, and I highly encourage new Entrepreneurs to do so. But business can grow and you may reach a point where you need to get food safety certification or meet new-to-you regulatory requirements, like SFCR Licensing for inter-provincial trade or FSMA Requirements to do business in the USA. When you access greater markets both your risk and regulatory requirements increase as do food safety requirements.
This is where I come in. As a small business owner myself, I come from experience. I draw on a very full professional past doing everything from Industrial Food Research to Product Development, NHP consulting and 10 years in business providing Food Safety Consulting services with a 100% success rate for certification and licensing. As a human being with a busy life in a complicated world, I know what it means and how crucial it is to KEEP THINGS SIMPLE yet still meet high expectations.
The food industry is highly regulated and for those who are ready to get to the next stage of business growth, there's only one way forward and that is to keep pace with evolving food safety, regulatory and certification requirements.
Food safety is required to help keep us safe and healthy. For the protection of public health it's important to all of us so it's important that we ensure your food safety plan is implemented and valid.
I write and validate food safety plans to meet your food safety, regulatory and certification requirements and/or help you become or stay compliant. I can help you through the entire certification/licensing process.
1. First, we need to identify what your specific food safety needs are, your certification and/or licensing requirements.
2. Next, we identify the gaps between the standard and where you're at. You'll get a report with recommendations on what you need to do to meet the standard.
3. We decide what recommendations will be followed, and we get to work. While I develop your written plan, you make necessary facility, equipment, process, procedure, etc. changes and implement programs as we go.
4. Once implemented, you can be audited to your chosen standard and/or inspection-ready. I prepare you for what to expect and provide support for the desktop portion of your audit/inspection.
5. Successful completion of the audit is always our objective. I only write Food Safety Plans for clients when I am confident in a successful outcome.
My secret power is being able to distill highly technical methods down to a simplified, step-by-step procedures. I will simplify your program and keep record-keeping requirements to only what is necessary and crucial.
Could we be a good fit for getting you into compliance? Let's talk about your food safety needs and go from there.
